My name is Jean Rill-Alberto. I was born and raised in N.Y. and I have been a mixed-media and fiber artist for most of my life. As a child, I began with paper, crayons and thread. My favorite things I loved most were drawing, quilting and singing all the time. As I got older, these desires never faded and eventually I went to college and studied graphic art at the School of Visual Arts and The Art Students League, both in N.Y.C. , along with many singing lessons later :)
I work in many different mediums such as acrylics, colored pencil, ink, fiber, wood and metal. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style.
For the last 14 years, I have been a greeting card designer by profession. It's always been my passion to find a creative medium that would connect us to one another by communicating.
I proudly introduced With Heart By Hand, presenting my very first card lines in 2004 at the National Stationery Show in NYC.
I really enjoy working with color, form and design. I am constantly inspired by visiting museums and art shows in N.Y.C, San Francisco and abroad. My favorites are looking at visually stimulating books of Art and being out in nature taking pictures. I love modern design and it's simplicity. I am also very fond of Japanese Art.
Many of my thoughts and ideas for my work are directly influenced by these things.
